The annual "Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby" Race was successfully concluded at the Sha Tin Racecourse on 13 March, 2005. 'Vengeance Of Rain' defeated other 13 horses to win the champion and claimed the 8.12 million prize.
The Hong Kong Derby, the premier event on the domestic racing calendar has become the "Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Derby" since last year. The illustrious horse race, first run in Hong Kong in 1873, has never been sponsored before. A partnership was formed between Mercedes-Benz China Limited (MBCL) and the Hong Kong Jockey Club in early 2004, and Mercedes-Benz was delighted to sponsor the annual Hong Kong classic for an initial period of three years.
