A Half-Century Love Affair The Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Exhibition
Six exquisite automobiles from Mercedes-Benz Museum's collection formed the centerpiece of " Half-Century Love Affair - The Mercedes-Benz Classic Car Exhibition", unveiled in Hong Kong from February 21 to March 9, 2006. The theme of the exhibition expressed the long-lasting love between Mercedes-Benz and Hong Kong. As the biggest classic car exhibition in Hong Kong, the event brought the history, culture and brand heritage of Mercedes-Benz to car lovers and the general public.
The Maybach Center was the perfect setting for the display of these classic cars, which took visitors back in time more than a century. The cars represented Mercedes-Benz' impressive and symbolic heritage through different eras, and each was a milestone in global automobile history demonstrating important steps in the brand's progress to becoming a giant of the industry. In addition, the first high-speed engine was displayed; there were background pieces and sculptures of the two founders of Mercedes-Benz, Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler; as well as key moments from Mercedes-Benz' development in Hong Kong.
At the opening ceremony, Mrs Jutta Aulich, Chief Operating Officer of Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Limited, took the opportunity to talk to guests about the company's development in Hong Kong during the past half century. It's a luxury automotive brand with many years of tradition," she said, "Mercedes-Benz has created countless classics in its 120 years of development and has made significant contributions to the global auto industry.
