Detailed checks before cars hit the road Every new car is subjected to a thorough inspection before it leaves Zung Fu premises. New Mercedes-Benz vehicles are subjected to a rigorous inspection and testing processes before they leave the Zung Fu service centers, ensuring that every single element of the vehicle is in tip-top condition. One of the key components to check is the software: today's Mercedes- Benz vehicles have an ever-increasing number of functions that are controlled by computer. Technicians complete a thorough once-over using the Diagnostic Assistance System (DAS), an expensive and sophisticated computer system that examines the engine, computer systems and electrical fittings to make sure all are functioning as they should. Minute detail Zung Fu's pre-delivery inspection program has been carefully developed over the years to make sure every aspect is covered in minute detail. Once vehicles are delivered from the dock to service centers, technicians check the wheels, tires, windshield, bodywork, door and boot locks and make sure all remote keys work properly. After this once-over is complete, a full survey begins, to ensure the electrical system, air-conditioning unit, oil pressure system and seat adjustment devices are all in fine fettle. Full inspections are also carried out of the vehicle's underfloor, pipes and hydraulic units. Another area which receives close attention is the engine itself - to see that all units are in tip-top condition. Brake, fuel, water and hydraulic units are all carefully examined, as is the battery. Brakes are tested on a machine specially designed for this purpose. Protective cover The process begins even before the Mercedes-Benz vehicles arrive from Germany. For the voyage to Hong Kong, each automobile is sheathed by a protective film to ensure the exposed areas such as trim and boot lid are safe from potential damage. When this cover is stripped off in Hong Kong, technicians go over every centimeter of the paintwork to make sure no mishaps have occurred en route. When the supervisors are satisfied that all checks have been fully carried out, a Zung Fu sticker is applied, showing that the Mercedes-Benz is ready to take to the streets of Hong Kong.
