Double win for Autonis design competition
Mercedes-Benz has once again proven its popularity in the Autonis competition for outstanding design. The SLK-Class and CLK-Class took top rankings in the readers' survey, securing first place in the "Convertible" and "coupé" vehicle categories for Mercedes-Benz.
A total of 54,000 readers of the automotive magazine mot took part in the survey, and made their selections from a field of more than 290 vehicles. The awards ceremony was held in Duisburg on 24 April, and Professor Peter Pfeiffer, Senior Vice President Design at the Mercedes-Benz Technology Centre, was there to accept the honours.
With its groundbreaking Vario roof, the SLK-Class received 29.5% of the votes; and the substantial margin between the SLK-Class's approval rating and that of the second place vehicle confirmed the compact roadster's great popularity with mot readers. At 32.1%, the CLK-Class achieved an equally impressive result, winning first place for the third year in a row in the "coupé" category.
