The gala launch The new CL-Class made its debut in Hong Kong at a launch event held at Hall 1C of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 24, 2006. The launch was also the prelude to the Mercedes-Benz motor show that was open to the public from November 25-26, featuring the new CL-Class amongst other High Performance Vehicles - including the S600 and the renowned AMG models. A spectacular dance performance and a dazzling display of pyrotechnics culminating in a fabulous light show served to highlight the new CL-Class, the true star of the evening. After the opening performance, the new car was unveiled to guests who included celebrities, society figures and opinion leaders, as well as Mercedes-Benz aficionados and motoring fans. They were lucky enough to be the first in Hong Kong to experience up-close-and-personal the flagship vehicle. Shining like a beacon in a tunnel of light, the CL-Class lived up to its expectations of being breathtakingly elegant, yet exceptionally dynamic. Even car connoisseurs were astonished by its extraordinary technology and superlative comfort. Astonishingly classy look The astonishingly stylish exterior is enhanced by an impressive radiator grille and distinctive lights. Further, both the muscular contours of the wings and the signature sleek line of the roof highlight the coupé charismatic design and set the mould for a new Mercedes style. The dimensions of the vehicle are generous and everything about the interior is designed for relaxation and good taste. New techno classic Being the largest of all Mercedes's coupés, the new CL is also outstanding for its extraordinarily powerful performance. The CL500 comes with a V8 engine and delivers 285kW/388hp enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds. The CL600 comes with 12 Bi-turbo engine and delivers 380kW/517hp, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. Furthermore, technological innovations in the new CL balance excitement and safety for every journey. The advanced PRO-SAFE protective systems are working overtime to provide comprehensive safety for passengers.
