Ambient lightling

At night the optional ambient lighting with three adjustable colour shades ensures a particularly pleasant lighting experience in the interior. Luminous surfaces on the dashboard and doors create an incomparable atmosphere. In addition the light units, which are controlled independently of the background light, help make it easier to find the vehicle's controls.

Climate control

The THERMATIC automatic climate control system, which is fitted as standard in the CLS, ensures there is a constantly pleasant climate in the vehicle interior. The luxury automatic climate control system THERMOTRONIC (standard in the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY and the CLS 63 AMG) can, if chosen, provide additional comfort.

THERMOTRONIC features an additional control unit with display in the rear of the vehicle, enabling driver and passengers to set their preferred temperatures and air supply in three climate zones. Sensors monitor both the interior temperature and intensity of sunlight in all three zones so that the settings - for example, the climate styles of FOCUS, MEDIUM or DIFFUSE - can be maintained automatically. A combined filter also improves the air-intake quality. If the outside air quality is poor, the ventilation flaps close automatically .

With the optional climatised seats (including seat heating), the front seats are actively ventilated and heated. If you also select the optional multicontour seats you will benefit, in addition to ventilation and heating, from the air chambers, which can adapt the seat to suit dynamic driving and orthopaedic requirements.

Seating comfort

Passengers in the new CLS are in for a treat. The pleasant on-board atmosphere is enhanced by high-quality materials and generous interior dimensions to ensure plenty of elbow-room in the rear. The seats are designed for complete relaxation: the fore/aft position, cushion height and backrest angle of the front seats are all electrically adjustable.

The CLS can also be equipped with the optional memory package for the front seats. The memory function can store up to three different seat positions as well as exterior mirror and steering-wheel height settings for the driver. The package is rounded off with an electrically adjustable 4-way lumbar support for the front seats. To keep the rear passengers riding comfortably, the centre console was lengthened. The result is two comfortable individual seats in the rear.

The Active Multicontour Seat package is optionally available for all models. It delivers added lateral stability and seating comfort when cornering by changing the air-chamber pressure in the backrest side bolsters and seat cushions to boost driver/front-passenger support. The seat also has a massage function for the back to prevent back muscle fatigue on longer journeys. Other highlights include the memory package and NECK-PRO luxury head restraints for the front seats.
