The Active Multicontour Seat with NECK-PRO luxury head restraints allows effective adjustment to individual seating requirements, aligns itself with each driving situation, massages the back muscles and reduces the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

Depending on the steering angle, lateral acceleration and speed, the air cushions in the seat side bolsters are tightened pneumatically in two stages to guarantee lateral support even when the driver employs a very dynamic driving style. If the dynamic function is switched off, the previously selected pressure in the side chambers is automatically reset symmetrically.

The Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) with tow-away protection and interior monitoring can emit a warning in the event of theft and unauthorised entry, as soon as the system is activated via remote control.

Authorisation required: The system triggers an alarm if an unauthorised person opens one of the vehicle doors, tailgate or bonnet. The alarm also sounds if the ignition lock is shorted/removed or the foot brake applied.

Movement sensor: The tow-away protection function responds to a change in the position of the vehicle and can be deactivated ¡§C for example, if the car is being towed or loaded onto another vehicle.

In the event of a collision, the Rear Safety Package can significantly reduce the risk of injury for rear compartment passengers. The Package includes sidebags and adaptive belt force limiters for the outside rear seats.

KEYLESS GO is an electronic drive authorisation system. The driver does not need a key to unlock or start the vehicle. The driver need only carry the KEYLESS GO transponder and pull the door handle. Simply pressing the start/stop button starts the car.

Using advanced LED technology to underline its charismatic appeal, the LED Light Package creates a distinctive look for the E-Class. It includes LED indicators and a headlamp cleaning system.

The Intelligent Light System integrated in the main headlamps significantly enhances both safety and comfort. It automatically adjusts to different traffic scenarios, such as cornering or driving on country roads or the motorway. In "country" mode, the road surface is illuminated with a broader beam, while the "motorway" mode produces a significantly longer illumination range.

The memory package makes frequent change of drivers much easier. It stores the individual settings for the driver's seat, steering wheel and exterior mirrors for up to three people.

As soon as the driver selects the preferred setting at the touch of a button, electric controls automatically reset the seat, steering column and exterior mirrors to the previously stored positions. In conjunction with the optional Active Multicontour Seats, the PRE-SAFE? positioning function can act in a hazardous situation. Should the system detect a critical situation, the side bolsters of the seat cushions and backrests are inflated to give driver and front passenger greater lateral support.

If the PRE-SAFE? system is activated, the front passenger seat can be moved automatically into a more favourable crash position. If there is no collision, the Multicontour Seats are reset to the initial positions once the parameters fall below the trigger point.

The Multicontour Seats take pressure off the spine and can be precisely adjusted to the ergonomic characteristics of the driver and front passenger. The pressure can also be adjusted in the variable air cushions of the seat surface side bolsters, the backrests and curvature of the lumbar/shoulder areas. The controls are located on the side next to the cushions between the seat surface and centre console.

Night View Assist Plus significantly improves visibility in dark conditions and if oncoming vehicles cause dazzling. The system helps the driver by reducing the risk of overlooking dangerous situations without switching to high beam and without dazzling oncoming traffic.

The system works with infrared headlamps and an infrared camera, which transmits an image as a clear grey-scale image to the central display of the COMAND Online multimedia system. Pedestrians can be automatically identified and highlighted in the display. With this option, it is easier to identify people, animals and objects when visibility is poor.

The rear roller sunblinds and optimised double sun visors protect the passengers from direct sunlight and reduce the temperature in the vehicle interior.
