With its thrilling driving qualities, dynamism and power at the highest level, the E 63 AMG delivers impressive results. The driver can choose between a sporty or a more comfort-oriented driving style. The new AMG 5.5 litre V8 biturbo engine boasts the technology attributes of a racing vehicle.
Technology deployed in the E 63 AMG:
- Powerful figures: The new AMG V8 with twin turbochargers in the E 63 AMG is a compelling proposition ¡§C thanks to fascinating dynamic response and exceptional efficiency in its performance category. With an output of 525 hp and a maximum torque rating of 700 Nm[1], the E 63 AMG achieves acceleration figures of 0 and 100 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds. In its performance category, impressively low fuel consumption figures are achieved through factors including direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion, twin turbochargers, alternator management, and the Controlled Efficiency performance setting with start/stop function.
- Sports transmission: In addition to the Race Start and automatic double-declutching functions, the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission boasts four individual transmission modes. Controlled Efficiency (or "C" for short) stands for consumption-optimised driving. The transmission modes "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus) and "M" (Manual) enhance dynamic performance. Gear changes in less than 100 milliseconds are possible thanks to partial cut-off of individual cylinders when upshifting. And a compact, wet start-up clutch replaces the conventional torque converter.
- High-tech suspension: The AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension makes a great impression ¡§C with significantly improved transverse dynamics thanks to the wider front axle and the electronically controlled damping system on the rear axle. It enables rapid changes between maximum agility and high driving comfort. As well as offering the choice between suspension settings "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport Plus", the driver can also set the level of support from the ESP? dynamic handling control system ¡§C with the ON, SPORT and OFF functions.
- New steering: The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering with more direct ratio complements the suspension by applying steering manoeuvres to the road more dynamically.
- Outstanding braking characteristics: The AMG high-performance braking system features 360 mm brake discs all round and highly durable race-tested composite technology on the front axle to ensure outstanding deceleration and high fade resistance.
