Depending on the steering angle, lateral acceleration and speed the air cushions in the seat side bolsters are tightened pneumatically in two stages such that optimum lateral support is guaranteed even when the driver is employing a very dynamic driving style. After the dynamic function is switched off the previously selected pressure in the side chambers are automatically reset symmetrically.

In the event of a collision, the Rear Seat Safety package can significantly reduce the risk of injury to passengers in the rear. The package includes sidebags as well as adaptive belt force limiters for the outer seat positions in the rear.

KEYLESS GO is an electronic drive authorisation system. The driver does not need a key to unlock or start the vehicle. The driver need only carry the KEYLESS GO transponder and pull the door handle. Simply pressing the start/stop button starts the car. The KEYLESS-GO package also comprises a convenience boot closing feature and chrome trim on the door handles.

The LED light package lends the E-Class a distinctive look, using advanced LED technology to emphasise its charismatic appeal. The package includes LED indicators and a headlamp cleaning system.

The Intelligent Light System integrated in the main headlamps significantly enhances both safety and comfort. The multicontour seats take pressure off the spine and can be precisely adjusted to the ergonomic characteristics of the driver and the front passenger. The pressure can also be adjusted in the variable air cushions of the seat surface side bolsters, the backrests and the curvature of the lumbar/shoulder areas. The controls are located on the side next to the cushions between the seat surface and centre console.

Night View Assist Plus improves visibility in dark ambient conditions and if oncoming vehicles cause significant dazzling. The system supports the driver by helping to ensure that any potential dangers are not overlooked, even when there is oncoming traffic and without having to switch to main beam.

The system works with infrared headlamps and an infrared camera which transmits an image as a clear grey-scale image which is shown in the central display of the COMAND Online multimedia system. Pedestrians can be automatically identified and highlighted in the display. With this option, it is easier to identify people, animals and objects even when visibility is poor.

The automatic dimming function for the exterior and interior mirrors on the driver's side help to enhance safety and comfort.
